What is AdBlue®?

A high-purity urea solution that keeps SCR engines clean.

AdBlue® by Biochem is a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) made from a high-purity urea solution. It is used in diesel vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to reduce the harmful gases released into the atmosphere.

It is certified to ISO 22241. This international standard protects your vehicle from contamination that could cause serious damage. Using a urea solution of incorrect or low quality that does not follow the standard risks costly repairs. SCR with AdBlue® injection significantly reduces emissions, allowing vehicles to comply with Euro 4, 5 and 6.

Handling & precautions

Keep it pure from the can to the tank.

Separate DEF tank onlyNever add AdBlue® to diesel. Dispense it into the vehicle's separate DEF tank.
Add nothing to itDon't dilute AdBlue® or mix in any other substance.
Keep containers closedClose the lid tightly when not in use, and use equipment dedicated to AdBlue®.
Avoid direct sunlightHeat speeds up decomposition. Store below 25 °C where possible.
Avoid contact with metalsAdBlue® can be corrosive to some metals. Use approved plastic or stainless equipment.
Skin contactWash immediately with plenty of water.

FAQ

Questions about AdBlue®

Can't find your answer? Contact our team.

What is AdBlue® used for?

It is used in diesel vehicles with SCR technology to convert nitrogen oxides (NOx) into nitrogen and water. It goes into a separate AdBlue® tank, never into the diesel tank.

What happens if AdBlue® freezes?

AdBlue® solidifies at −11 °C. Once it thaws it returns to liquid and can be used with no loss of quality.

How should I store it?

In closed containers dedicated to AdBlue®, between −11 °C and 25 °C and out of direct sunlight. Higher temperatures shorten shelf life.

Is AdBlue® hazardous?

No. It is classed as a non-hazardous aqueous solution. If it contacts your skin, wash with plenty of water.

Why does ISO 22241 matter?

It defines the purity and quality AdBlue® must meet. Off-spec urea solutions can contaminate the SCR catalyst and lead to costly repairs.

Which pack sizes can I order?

1 US gallon, 4 L, 10 L and 20 L jerry cans, 200 L drums and 1000 L IBC tanks. Other sizes are available on request.
